The 2020 SLAS High School Basketball Team Will not Play Any Games by Nikolay Mesropyan

The 2020 high school basketball team will have restricted practices without any scheduled games, and it is unknown if they will compete in any tournaments. Due to the

COVID-19 pandemic, Shanghai has prohibited school sports competition and applied strict rules on schools.
Some of the campus guidelines include social distancing. This meant that team practices on campus had to change to accommodate the rules. The 2019 basketball team usually had training
without any restrictions every day of the week, whereas this year most competitive games involving physical contact are not allowed.
The Coach of the boy’ s basketball team, Ms. Jaime, said,“ I’ ve got lots of competitive games that don’ t involve contact for us to play still. We plan to have [ practice ] at least twice a week for now.”
If the Shanghai International Schools Activities Conference( SISAC) decides that there will be a tournament, it would be on Jan. 16, 2021, as stated on their.
In the opinion of Mr. Brown, the athletic and the house coordinator of SLAS,“ There is a bigger chance that we will have a basketball tournament, but it is still uncertain.”
In the USA, restrictions on Basketball competition between high schools are up to the states. Some states like Mississippi are playing the original schedule. States like California do not have any games. States like New York and most of the states are playing an altered or delayed schedule.
Even though there will not be any games, the Basketball team will continue their practices and improve to be ready for a potential tournament.
