Time Management and Sleep Hinder Academic Performance

In a recent small sample survey , 80 % of SLAS students said time management and sleep most affect their academic performance . The other 20 % said their study style and self-esteem the main influences .

Ten students were interviewed about the question , “ What affects your academic performance the most ? Self-esteem , time management , or study style ?”
Jiin Ban ( Gina ), a 9th grader , has experienced a lack of concentration during class due to time management because she sleeps late . She always gets into social media and puts aside her assignments . “ Sleep deprivation leads me to some physical and mental issues such as headaches and dozing off during class ,” she said . most important thing for a successful academic performance . When he experienced poor academic performance , he always hesitated on his work and distrusted his ability . With better selfesteem , he tried different problem-solving methods , which led him to find the best way to study .
According to a research study from the US-based National Center for Biotechnology Information , poor sleep habits and academic performance changes are correlated . “ Longer sleep duration would lead to better academic performance based on the scientific foundation related to sleep ,” the study read .
Hyeontae An , a 9th grader , has a hard time managing his time . “ I always get to waste my time studying and finishing my work due to watching too much social media ,” she said . In addition , he believes time management leads to deprivation of sleep , which makes him feel slow , along with reducing his creativity .
Sukyoung Ko ( Sugar ), a 10th grader , said her study style significantly impacts her academic performance . “ If my attitude of studying appears bad , I ’ ll have a hard time absorbing the knowledge I need for tests or assignments .”
