According to administrator Carlton Lamb , parents and students had an increasing desire for more diversity and better meals last year . Sodexo was hired to fulfill this need .

Sodexo hired its own professional kitchen staff to cook and serve each meal . In general , students and teachers note that they are very friendly .

At 30 RMB per meal , the new lunch is only two RMB more than last year ’ s lunch . The meals are planned by nutritionists to be healthy and balanced .

Secondary science teacher Mr . McBroom said , “ The quality of the dishes provided has been higher . The servers are much friendlier and more willing to help you get

what you want .”

The new cafeteria consists of barriers set on the tables separating individual seats , and posters of different foods put up by Sodexo . There are tray drop-off stations in the front and back of the building .

The new lunch normally consists of three dishes including one

main dish , a drink ( water , milk tea , yogurt ), and soup . There is also a vegetarian service .

Some find the food a little bland , possibly because Sodexo takes into consideration the potential allergies students and teachers may have . There is a condiment sidebar available to those who want more spices and sauce .

Currently , the average wait

time for lunch is 10-15 minutes . According to Mr . Carlton , Sodexo is still warming up and having their staff get used to the workplace . Therefore current conditions may be subject to improvement in the future .

Overall , the students and teachers surveyed have a great impression of the new lunch service . After these early stages , the school lunch will continue to improve , adding more varieties of healthy international cuisine that will be of interest to students .
