Some SLAS Students Are Still Trapped Abroad

Because of the pandemic, some students are still trapped abroad, and they are required to attend class online using MS Teams. MS Teams allows students to send assignments, contact teachers, and have video conference classes.

High infection rates around the world caused the Chinese border to close to most nationalities. According to voice. baidu. com( Sept. 14, 2020), in Shanghai, there are 947 people infected with COVID-19, and there were seven deaths.
Abroad, there are over seven million infected people, mostly in the USA and South America.
There are many students locked down now in Japan, and most are having classes with MS Teams. During the lockdown, students had to deal with time differences. Some students needed to wake up at midnight in their time zones to attend classes live in Shanghai.
Minami is a student attending online classes from Japan. She plans to come back to Shanghai in October, and she thinks MS Teams is easy to work with and adapt to. She prefers MS Teams because she likes how it combines elements of Zoom and Edmodo.
Students like Minami and others say they miss their friends in Shanghai.
