SPANISH FIELD TRIP TO ALMA
BY JIN YOUNG HAN
On November 11, 2016, a group of Spanish class students
from Shanghai Livingston American School (SLAS) went
on a field trip to a Spanish restaurant named “Alma by
DN.” Under the supervision of the Spanish teachers, Ms.
Marta Saludes and Ms. Carolina Bou, the middle school
and high school Spanish classes, visited “Alma,” which

restaurant, Sergio Moreno, has prepared delicate

dishes tasted amazing and were served in large

potatoes, ham croquettes, and chicken fries with four
different sauces. They could choose between one of the
three main dishes: fish fries on tablet, veal with potato
cream, and macaroni with three types of cheese. Finally,
the dessert was orange flan. Amazingly, the students
only had to pay 100 RMB for the entire course. After
enjoying their lunch, students interviewed the chef,
Sergio Moreno, in Spanish and found out that he is very
friendly and passionate about cooking. He was glad to
present Spanish food to foreign students in China. An
interesting fact about the restaurant is that the chef
makes his own olive oil, cheese, and bread. All the dishes
