POPULAR TRENDS FOR 2017

There are a lot of trends in the world. So what exactly
are “trends”? Trends are styles or popular actions
that people follow or do around the world. People
at Shanghai Livingston American School (SLAS) also
follow several trends that are going on. There are
different people from different places around the
world at SLAS, so there are a lot of different trends
that people follow. Trends can involve anything such
as music, challenges, clothing, movies, and even TV
shows. and much more. The two most popular shoe brands
are Adidas and Nike. Popular trends of activities and
challenges are things like the Ice
Bucket Challenge, the Ghost Pepper Challenge, the
Mannequin Challenge, the dab and others. SLAS
students follow most of these trends and much more
because there is a large population of people from
different places. For instance, the Koreans in our
school follow a trend where they wear fake glasses.
Another trend that Japanese students follow is PPAP.
Music teacher Mr. Gary Tubbs said, “A trend to me is
like patterns of behaviors, something that is picked
up by many people.” He also added, “It is difficult to
say what trends people follow in school, but there
are a few notable trends that you can notice when
you’re looking. Namely, fashion trends, take Kanye’s
Yeezy Boosts for example.” Aidan Lupori, a sophomore at SLAS said, “A trend for
me is something that everyone follows.” He also
added, “I think the water bottle flip is trending in SLAS
right now and I do follow it because I think it’s really
fun to do it.”
A lot of trends have gained in popularity during 2017.
These trends come from celebrities that are famous.
There are trends under categories such as music,
clothes, shoes, activities and challenges. Popular
music trends are songs such as Treat You Better,
Hello, 24K Magic, Starboys, and This is What You
Came For. Popular clothes trends include brands like
H&M, Forever 21, Supreme, Off-White, Bathing Ape

Trends around the world change from time to time.
These are some of the popular trends that are going
on right now but they won't always be so poular.
Trends start from famous celebrities that then spread
into poular culture. A trend is something that pulls
everyone in the world together even though
everyone of us comes from a different part of the
world.
