WHAT MAKES A COLLEGE PRESTIGIOUS? BY EMMA WOOTAN Choosing a university is one of the most important decisions a high school student can make. In order to choose the best school of higher education, it is important to look at many factors. One of these factors is reputation. What do other people say about this school? Does it actually provide a stellar education or does it just coast by on prestige? This is perhaps the most important contributor to consider as many colleges in the United States, especially those in the Ivy League, are prestigious due to age and reputation rather than academics. school wants to gain a better reputation it is imperative that they are able to get the best professors to teach their students. They also need to get the best researchers so that outside money comes into the school. That brings us to funding, which is important because with more money a university can spend more on its students, professors, research, faculties and instruction. By investing money into the school, private funders also make a profit as the more funding a school has the more money it will generate. Reputation is the last factor. Reputation is mostly based on age. I am going to share those movies, and in this article I will be recommending shows for Shanghai Livingston American School (SLAS) students. La La Land: This story is about Mia, an aspiring actress, and Sebastian, a dedicated jazz musician, struggling to make ends meet while pursuing their dreams in a city known for destroying hopes and breaking hearts. This movie is made like a musical so students can listen to beautiful music, and picturesque scenes. “It was fantastic, I can listen to the wonderful music and view,” said Ha sung Jeong, a 10th grade student at SLAS. He also said “I watched it on holiday with my family.” Passengers: This is the movie about that a spacecraft traveling to a distant colony planet and transporting thousands of people that has a malfunction in its sleep chambers. This movie has tension and you will be immersed in the story. “While I watched movie I was immersed so much,” said Eun Ju Kwak a 10th grade student at SLAS. She added “I watched the movie, when sun went down because it made it feel more suspenseful. The Magnificent Seven: With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of the industrialist Bartholomew Bogue, the desperate townspeople 14 employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers that are hired guns. “I watched the movie when I was at friend’s house,” said Sam Mun a 10th grade student at SLAS. He also mentioned “I like this kind of movie, because it makes me excited.” Many movies are changing to follow trends. So if you want to catch up for trend you need to watch good movie. Students also could get much information from watch movie so when you have rest time or holiday you could watch movie.
