attempted to bring back every trend from the last century! You had the 20s phase, the 30s, 40s, 80s....trends from every decade pretty much have made a comeback whether in the underground or mainstream. I guess this is probably because we have so much more information available to us now that we can have access to images and archives of old fashions, which can be a good inspiration.
IT: What era has had the biggest impact on fashion?
CM: Once again, this is tough to answer because every era until 2000 had it's distinct style and impact. Fashion is functional and it will respond to the time it is, this is why I am curious to see how these couple of decades will turn out.
IT: Who is your favorite designer? Why?
CM: I appreciate designers with a more alternative and fresh vision, for example Christopher Kane, Erdem,
Alexander Wang, and as for bigger names probably Rei Kawakubo, Givenchy, Balenciaga , Jil Sander...
I
CM: Personally my fashion style has perhaps been a reaction to fashion becoming too available. Luckily, my mother is a designer, so for the last three or four years I have been designing and custom making pieces at her place every season. This has obviously spoilt me! But I have found myself emphasizing much more on quality more than quantity, especially since I moved to a cold climate (London) it was impossible to find clothes that are functional, elegant, and made out of good quality fabrics at a reasonable price, so I had to design my own.
IT: What has influenced your personal fashion?
CM: Many things, I don't think I have a very specific style per say it depends on my mood but definitely the climate! I also am a big fan of secondhand and vintage clothes so I tend to opt for vintage silhouettes, like a 60's style box shape dress.
IT: What trends have you seen reoccur (whether it be from different time periods or cultures)?
CM: What is kind of crazy is that in the last ten years we have basically attempted to bring back every trend from the last century! You had the 20s phase, the 30s, 40s, 80s....trends from every decade pretty much have made a comeback whether in the underground or mainstream.
