abrupt way . In the explosion of a supernova , a large amount of material is released into space . There remains a very dense small core . This core can be shaped like a neutron star , or a black hole . The scattered dust and gases will give rise to new stars . In the nuclear reactions
that occur in the cores of stars , it is where we believe that the elements we have in our world are formed from hydrogen , the most abundant element in the Universe . The solar system was , within the scientific model we considered , formed from the rest of supernovas .
With the technological resources available today , amateur astronomers have made supernova discoveries . We are made of star-stuff , as the famous scientist Carl Sagan used to say . From the dust of the stars comes life . Cycles of life and death . From dust we are born to dust we will return ...
