When describing this image , Fryhover said “ Built in 1897 , this historic little church sits atop a mesa in New Mexico at about 8,000 feet elevation . The skies were clear and Bortle 1 dark . The Milky Way was a beautiful site with green and red sky glow ringing the horizon . No trees , an ancient volcanic landscape now grazing land for cattle . Beautiful isolation .”
