with any experts . Having these firsthand answers can inspire young generations into science and help to debunk hoaxes . But that is not the case in 2005 . At that time , we rely more on mainstream media , usually in the form of newspapers and television , and information provided on the internet by the space agency , and astronomy news magazines . But the information provided on the internet was in English . As for the mainstream media in Indonesia , astronomy news is only covered occasionally . And we did not even have any astronomy media in Indonesia at that time . And here is where it started . Back in 2003 , the Mars hoax was so popular that people lined up in the observatory , planetarium , and at the astronomy department to observe Mars opposition . At that time , the mailing list and text were spreading that Mars will be as big as the Full Moon and we will see twin moons during the night . After that , in 2004 , people ’ s curiosity brought them to observe the transit of Venus . These two events were the trigger to start an astronomy magazine named Centaurus in 2005 but discontinued after one edition . After that we shifted to blogging under the name langitselatan which means Southern Sky in Indonesia language ( langit means sky and selatan means southern ). We built this site in 2007 and chose blog as our main platform since it provides us the capability to interact with our readers . As we grow up , we are evolving not only to provide astronomy resources but also to introduce that science is fun and doable and everyone can do it .
