The Pale Blue Thought

“ Turning our heads skyward from the pale blue dot , brings us all closer together as we explore , taking us deeper in thought . As we busily dissected , we discovered we were interconnected ... loosening our grip of greed , bringing us closer to what we need ... to erase our divisions and inspire us with visions- to heal what we have wrought .”

Most of the time , we go

about our busy lives scarcely aware that we are on a tiny planet travelling through space at incredible speed , living in just one of a trillion or two galaxies in this universe . But the pandemic that has gripped the world gave us time to reflect on what was important : family , friends , our health , and some of the big questions in life . by Scott W . Roberts
Perhaps because we were restricted and couldn ’ t go out for a night on the town , some of us turned our heads skyward and wondered what was out there ... As our gaze focused across light years of space , more than just a few of us decided get a better view . And what ensued was completely unexpected by those who work in the amateur telescope industry . Soon , around the world , telescopes were emptied off shelves and setup in backyards , and a new generation of star gazers looked up to discover that we all share- the instinct to explore . On this journey we found that we are all connected to each other , and to everything else in the cosmos . Some of these new star gazers will go beyond the novelty of seeing celestial objects for the first time to adopting the lifestyle of exploration and become astronomers . This transformation can happen in the blink of an eye as one gains realizations of cosmic scale , distance , time , and learn of the constant cycle of creation , destruction , and rebirth that goes on throughout the universe .
