She was fired the same day that she launched her website. What was supposed to be a simple Facebook launch turned into much, much more. As Theary dried her eyes, crying, wondering what she was going to do without her job, she opened her phone to find over 700 emails from buyers. Even though she had to shut down her website because she didn’ t have the stock to fill that high volume of orders, she knew she was where she was supposed to be.
Flash forward five years, not only has she grown as an independent designer, but the plus size fashion community has flourished. While seeing plus size clothing in big brand stores has opened new doors for full figured women, Theary still sees the value in independent work. Rather than dressing the masses, she looks to dress individuals. Her designs show that.
