Why everyone needs a sunday night skin care ritual

Do you remember being a kid , and your mum insisting you have a bath every Sunday night to prepare you for the oncoming school week ? Back then it seemed excessive and unnecessary , but this idea of spending a little extra time on yourself as the weekend draws to a close is something more and more of us are adopting in today ’ s hectic modern world – only it ’ s a little more grown up and focused on improving your overall wellbeing instead of simply getting clean . We rarely get enough time to pamper our skin during the week , as work , family , friends and general life admin take precedent over a multi-masking session . From Monday to Friday ( and Saturday in some cases ) your skin takes a bit of a metaphorical beating . Environmental stressors , emotional and hormonal changes , and not eating the best foods all contribute to a less-than-perky complexion come Sunday , which is why the last breath of the weekend is the perfect time to dedicate an hour to yourself . Once the children have gone to bed , your housework to-do list is all checked off , and your bag is packed and ready for work tomorrow , claim the bathroom as yours and enjoy some me time .

SOAK AWAY STRESS
All good Sunday night skin care rituals start in a hot bath . While your skin soaks and your muscles relax , use a body scrub from your heels to your shoulders to buff away dry cells and invigorate neglected skin back to life . Once clean and suitably stress-free , towel skin dry and slather it in a conditioning cream or lotion to lock in essential moisture and erase flaky patches . Take the time to really massage your chosen moisturiser into the skin , working from the feet up towards the chest to encourage circulation , before finding your snuggliest dressing gown and settling in for the main event . Dedicating time to pampering yourself does wonderful things for your mood and general wellbeing , but it ’ s also an amazing way to keep up with your complexion . Look at yourself in the mirror and think about what challenges your skin has faced this week and how those challenges have changed your skin . Are you noticing more dehydration lines than before , increased dullness or dry patches , a nasty breakout or redness that wasn ’ t there last week ? By being
