A
s we ‘Marie Kondo’ our wardrobes and
‘Hinch’ our homes, spring is the
perfect time to declutter your bath-
room cabinet, refresh your skin care routine
and achieve your clearest skin ever. So, as we
transition from huddling indoors with central
heating on in winter to stepping outside into
the spring sunshine, follow these three tips to
put a spring in your skin.
Cleanse Like a Pro!
Make-up, pollution, airborne bacteria, sweat and
oil all contribute to dirty skin. This leads to
blackheads, breakouts and a dull lifeless appear-
ance. So how can you make sure you are cleansing
like a pro? The first step to clear, healthy skin is
the Dermalogica double cleanse. A professional
technique used for decades by skin therapists as
the foundation to a great routine.
1) An oil-based pre-cleanse will attract super-
ficial dirt and make-up like a magnet. Apply
it to dry skin and massage over the face and
neck. Add water to emulsify and rinse. Does it
really matter if you leave make-up on overnight?
Yes! Many artificial colours used in make-up
are comedogenic (cause blackheads) so it’s crit-
ical to thoroughly remove make-up however
tired you may be! What if you have oily skin?
Although it may sound counter intuitive, oil
attracts oil like a magnet and will clear skin of
excess grease, pollution and daily grime. Just
make sure that it’s water-soluble to guarantee
skin is rinsed clean.
2) Once the superficial dirt is removed, you are
ready to choose the right cleanser for your skin.
This step will deep clean while maintaining the
skin’s natural pH. Just add water and massage
