Occupation : Medical Officer at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital .
Qualifications : Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Notre Dame Australia ; Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Notre Dame Australia ; and a Diploma of Enrolled Nursing from Joondalup TAFE WA .
Adventures : Hamidah is currently looking forward to safari in Botswana , although she honestly believes her biggest adventure has been having her first child .
Loves To : Read a good book , especially anything by Chimamanda Adichie , as well as play with her baby boy , and cook or bake foods that remind her of home .
Giving Back : Hamidah is one of the pioneering members of the Executive Board of African Professionals of Australia – a not-for-profit organisation aimed at unifying and empowering Africans in Australia in a professional capacity . She has also worked on the managing board of Charles Gairdner Resident Medical Officers Society , which is an entity focused on improving the standards of working conditions for junior doctors at the hospital . In addition , she acts as a mentor for Metwork , a mentoring programme from the school of medicine in Notre Dame University , which links medical students with doctors in the workforce in order to help support and guide them in their careers .
At Home : Juggling between being a full-time mum and medical practitioner is an exciting challenge for Hamidah , and one that keeps her home life busy , but interesting . She has found that having an extremely supportive husband makes it all possible and actually quite enjoyable .
Inspiration : Hamidah is am inspired by strong black women who make a difference in the world around them and inspire others to greatness , such as her mother , Michele Obama , Chimamanda Adichie , and Oprah .
