Qualifications : Higher Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from United Media Consultants and Trainers ( UMCAT ) in Kampala , Uganda ; Masters Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Griffith University ; Multiple qualifications in Investigative Journalism , Public Relations , International Relations , Social Work , Refugee Community Development work and Community Development in Torture and Trauma recovery context and Research etc .
Achievements : Robert is the winner of multiple awards including the Local Legends Award ( 2016 ), Community Leader of the Year ( 2014 ), Community Champions ( 2013 ), and University of Queensland ’ s Communication for Social Change Award ( High Commendation ).
Adventures : Robert loved experiencing a white Christmas in Canada and seeing the spectacular Niagara Falls . He also had a great time at the geothermal hot pools in Rotorua , New Zealand , and enjoyed an Iconic Wilderness Experience at Cradle Mountain in the central highlands region of Tasmania .
Loves To : Travel and explore new places and cultures , as well as to swim and play tennis and soccer on the weekends with his friends . He also loves to read books , especially biographies and speeches of great leaders , both past and present .
Giving Back : Robert is the President of the Queensland African Communities Council Inc ( QACC ), which is a peak organisation for African communities and individuals in Queensland . It is a not-for-profit organisation representing more than 60,000 Africans across Queensland , irrespective of their ethnic , political , religious , national or regional backgrounds . He has also previously served on the Australian Government ’ s African Ministerial Consultative Committee and Immediate Past President of the Rwandan Association of Queensland . In addition , he has worked as an investigative journalist with leading media organisations across Africa .
At Home : He loves advancing his culinary art , cleaning , gardening and listening to music .
Inspiration : Robert has personally and professionally mentored more than 100 students and graduates , and supported more than 200 of them to get part-time and full-time jobs and placements . He has also raised more than half a million dollars through sponsorships to support charity work and fundraisers , as well as events and social enterprises in the community .
