Success Doesn ’ t Come Easy

T

o succeed is challenging – if it wasn ’ t , I ’ m sure more people would be successful . I have met a lot of successful migrants who are enjoying fruit from the tree of success , and I have also met unsuccessful migrants who are examining its roots , trying to figure it all out .
The comments I often hear from struggling migrants include : ‘ I am a nice person , a good husband and a good worker , why is this other guy happy and prosperous and I ’ m always struggling ? Why does nothing seem to work out for me ? Life just isn ’ t fair .’
To be candid , in order to succeed it takes more than being a good person and a good worker – you need to become a good planner and a good dreamer . You have to see your end goals and learn to enjoy the hard , uncomfortable process until it becomes comfortable .
I vividly remember what my mentor told me when I complained to him about how Australia had been unfair to me , because it hadn ’ t provided me with an opportunity to succeed . After listening to my reasons for why I am not successful , he responded saying , “ You shouldn ’ t wish things were easier , you should wish you are better . You shouldn ’ t wish for fewer problems , you should wish for more skills . You shouldn ’ t wish for less challenges , you should wish for more wisdom ”.
I took on his advice and started searching for solutions by reading books , attending more seminars and associating myself with a mentor . I immersed myself in all these various activities and within a year , I started seeing results in my life and career . For many of us , the last couple of months have been financially trying . The economic challenges all over the world have wrecked businesses , stalled career plans , and drained bank accounts .
Some are waiting to wake up from the nightmare , hoping for the return to an era when credit was readily available , jobs were plentiful , and individuals spent their money freely . Unfortunately , based on what financial experts are predicting on a daily basis , it seems those days are never coming back .
We , therefore , need to embrace today ’ s economic and financial realities so we can navigate the challenging times and come out winning . Here are the new normal strategies that we need to embrace .
Get your finances in order . Review your monthly budget to get rid of any unnecessary expenses . Reduce the number of credit cards and set up a plan to pay off any money owed on existing cards as soon as possible . Do not spend beyond your means .
Improve your career mobility by continuing education . To increase your value in the marketplace , I suggest you enrol in post-graduate studies and training programs to upskill yourself . Success is about learning and a successful person is always a life-long learner .
Increase your tech-literacy . It is essential to be plugged into technology for your business and financial life . Embracing social media networks is a must if you want to be part of the conversation
Review your commitment to a healthy lifestyle . You need a lot of stamina to be effective in today ’ s fastpaced world . Without regular exercise and a proper diet , you will not be in peak condition to sufficiently handle your responsibilities .
