Anti-Aging

he subject of anti-aging has been discussed for a long time. It is gaining more traction as our years go by. The proper term that specifically covers the topic is trans-humanism. This is the idea of using technology to enhance human intellect and life. Trans-humanists have a goal of overcoming human limitations. This is quite an interesting idea. Could you imagine not having limits to the human body? Not only that but possibly extending your life and living forever. I have yet to come to a decision on whether this would personally benefit me. I could see a lot of problems arising from living forever. I think it would depend on how we come to that solution. Would we still be us? Would we still have our bodies? I may be in favor of extending my life if our humanity was still in tact. I want to be able to wake up every morning and go to sleep every night. I want to be able to breath on my own. If you could live forever, wouldn’t you want to be able to eat all the amazing foods our world has to offer? Lets not forget the ultimate pleasure, sex.

The reason I bring up all the everyday acts we take part in is the fear of technology. When I think of using technology to resolve the human condition, I think of losing who we are. Technology is am amazing think, but also very powerful. I think we need to be careful of how we utilize technology. Can you imagine living without breathing, sleeping, walking, eating and sexual pleasures? I honestly don’t see the value in that type of life. The idea of our human bodies limiting us is a fact. In order for trans-humanism to be viable, it would need to include a solution for our bodies. When I think of trans-humanism, I see the lost of humanity. Imagine a living brain without a body. That is what we are, isn’t it? Are you more than your brain? Does your body effect who you are? In theory, it may be possible to continue living as a brain without a human body. Is that truly a way of life worth living? In my opinion, anti-aging would have to resolve the problem of our decaying bodies. If that can become a reality, then trans-humanism can succeed.
