In history class I saw some diseases that in the time when they were just appearing no one know what was happening. We had to pretend that we were doctors of that time and write a diary talking about a disease that we like most. My team and I chose tuberculosis. Here is just a part of the work.

First Entry

The situation here in France continues to be darker every day that passes. Today a man came to me with…with some strange symptoms, symptoms that I had never seen before all together. He was seeing… very poor of energy, like an alive dead man. He was poor in his body weight, very skinny, he was coughing in a preoccupant manner and he could difficulty stand by himself. In my entire career, no…In my entire life, I hadn’t seen someone like this, this was freaking me out. As soon as I saw him, I called my servant to give the poor man attention. The man fall asleep as soon as he reach the bed. Some hours later, he finally woke up; he wasn’t seeing any better. Trying to investigate more about this apparently uhm…new disease…I started to ask him some questions.

“How long have you been like this?” – “It appeared from the night to the morning, first it was seemed to be like a simple fever. As time passed, I was doing worse…I’ve been only like half and a day in this conditions. ” He replied with his best efforts.

“Hm…very interesting…could you please tell me, in a resumed way, what were the first symptoms you felt?” – “I don’t remember very well…Loss of appetite, fever, night sweats… hehe, my wife was all soaked by the morning…”

“Why didn’t you come at first? We could have done more for you than now!” – “It was seem to be a simple fever at first, and I am a very obstinate person”- He replied, with his eyes closed, trying to relax.

I gave him the best attentions I could for today. I am trying to figure out what is happening. I’d decide that he will stay with me some days. I will try to study his symptoms and his attitudes. I will be giving him fever attentions and try to give him some food. I only hope that I don’t lose him…he seems to be so bad… I’m confused at the uncertain future.

I will try to discover what this new disease is, but for now, I’m going to sleep. See ya’.

I learn what were its symptoms and more less what was the reaction in the poeople in those times.
