You are a valued partner and play a vital role in bringing about the transformation we’re seeing in our healthcare system.” Tracey L. Smith Assistant Deputy Minister of Health "The incidence of injury within the Health Care industry in Saskatchewan remains high, well above the provincial average when measured in injury rates. While clearly much work remains to be done, great progress has been made in reducing the incidence of injury in this industry, in no small part as a result of the efforts of the safety association (SASWH). Our statistics show a reduction in the total and time loss injury rates of almost 20% and 25% respectively, for the 5 years ending 2013. We have also seen a reduction in the duration of time loss claims of almost 7%. Our forecast for 2014 shows a continuing trend in reducing injury rates and durations within this industry. This has translated into a reduction of claims costs of over $2.4 million and a corresponding reduction in premium rates. SASWH has been instrumental in engaging the industry in training activities and other initiatives that have led to the reductions that we are seeing in our statistics. The collaborative approach taken by SASWH with WorkSafe Saskatchewan and the WCB, as well as many other partners, has led to a stronger injury prevention focus within the Health Care industry and the province as a whole. Congratulations and keep up the great work." Peter Federko, CEO Saskatchewan Workers' Compensation Board “Working with SASWH this past year has highlighted for me the added value of our partnership. We share safety as a collective priority and I am confident that our services will continue to complement one another in the best interest of the healthcare system.” Tareq Al-Zabet Executive Director Occupational Health and Safety Division
