INVOLVEMENT
For 2009, Subaru Canada was the presenting sponsor of the
inaugural Shinsedai Cinema Festival, which took place from
August 21-23 at the Japanese Cultural Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
As the presenting sponsor, Subaru Canada was extremely proud
to recognize its Japanese heritage by supporting the wide range
of young talent that’s part of this “new generation” Japanese film
festival. The festival celebrated some of the best new feature
and short films from young, independent
Japanese filmmakers.
After three days, 12 screenings
and 24 Japanese films, the first
Shinsedai Cinema Festival was
such a success that plans are
already underway for 2010.
The festival is set to take place
from July 22-25, 2010, and
promises to be bigger and
bolder than before.

For the past three years, Subaru Canada has partnered
with our local community by participating with the City of
Mississauga’s LitterNot Program. The LitterNot campaign was
established as a way for environmentally conscious citizens
to make a personal contribution to a cleaner environment.
As part of this program, Subaru Canada has adopted a
2.5-km stretch of municipal road in our neighbourhood. At
least three times per year, Subaru employees venture out and
collect bags of discarded garbage within the designated area.
Programs such as the Mississauga LitterNot campaign
allow Subaru Canada to show our dedication to creating a
cleaner environment – both through our daily operations and
through initiatives such as this one.
