The practice of shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, has been a
part of Japanese culture for close to one thousand years.
But it’s only more recently that this activity has been formally
recognized for its health benefits. In 1982, the government
of Japan designated no fewer than 48 official forest therapy
trails, encouraging people to spend more time in nature.
