ANOTHER VIZIV, ANOTHER STUNNING DEBUT
Five years ago, Subaru set the automotive world on its collective ear with the release of the VIZIV CONCEPT at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show. This year, the same venue saw the debut of the VIZIV TOURER CONCEPT, an ultra-aggressive wagon that may well set the stage for a forthcoming Subaru production model. This concept features a SUBARU BOXER engine, Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD and two roofmounted cameras that link to the Subaru EyeSight ® Driver-Assist Technology system.
The VIZIV series of concept vehicles has toured the world over the past half-decade and set a bold, new direction for the Subaru design language. The VIZIV-7 debuted at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show and foreshadowed the brand-new Subaru Ascent, which appeared in final production form at the same show a year later.
A few years prior, the VIZIV-2 concept was digitally adapted and dubbed the VIZIV GT Vision Gran Turismo for a starring role in the popular Gran Turismo 6 videogame. Under the skin, many of the VIZIV concepts also showcase advanced hybrid technology in the form of a SUBARU BOXER engine married to either one or two electric motors.
The name“ VIZIV” derives from the phrase“ Vision for Innovation” and is intended to illustrate the concepts of“ enjoyment and peace of mind” while behind the wheel of a Subaru. Fans can look for more VIZIV concepts to appear down the road and for the ideas expressed to show up in dealer showrooms before too long.
