Canadian Car of the Year

On the morning of February 12, 2015, the Subaru Legacy
was named Canadian Car of the Year (CCOTY) by the
Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). The
announcement was made during a press conference held
at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto. In
winning this prestigious award, the Legacy outdistanced
the other CCOTY finalists, the Hyundai Genesis, MercedesBenz C300 4MATIC and Volkswagen Golf.

Each year, the COTY voting process kicks off in
October when AJAC members gather to evaluate new
vehicle entries in a broad range of categories, from city
cars to pickup trucks. The five-day event, nicknamed
“TestFest,” is unique in that it gives journalists the
chance to drive vehicles within the same category
back-to-back under identical conditions.
After testing the vehicles, the journalists assign
scores to each entrant in such areas as engine response,
handling and braking feel. These scores are combined
with performance numbers collected by some of the
country’s top test drivers using state-of-the-art data
