WHY SIX STAR ?
The word “ Subaru ” has two meanings : the first translates into English as “ gather together ” and the second is the Japanese name for Pleiades , the star cluster in the Taurus constellation . This formation is also called mutsuraboshi , the Japanese word for “ six stars ” and appears in very old documents . When Subaru Global ( originally known as Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd .) was incorporated in 1953 , it merged together five leading Japanese manufacturing companies and the automotive division called Subaru was eventually given the now-familiar six-star logo .
