2021 Crosstrek Sport Edition – Ice Silver Metallic 2021 Crosstrek Outdoor Edition – Magnetite Grey Metallic
features blaze gunmetal interior trim pieces and two-tone seats with yellow stitching — it ’ s a guaranteed head-turner .
Under the sculpted hood of the new Crosstrek , you ’ ll find one of two versions of the legendary SUBARU BOXER engine ; either a naturally aspirated 2.0L 4-cylinder or naturally aspirated 2.5L 4-cylinder . Both engines incorporate the latest weight-saving measures and advanced technologies to boost efficiency , improve acceleration and heighten driver engagement .
The former is the carryover engine that powers the current Crosstrek . Although this is not a brand-new engine , it ’ s a recent design , with over 80 percent of its components different from previous versions of the 2.0L SUBARU BOXER . This engine develops a robust 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque ; it also features Dual Active Valve Control and standard PZEV equipment , technology that boosts efficiency and reduces emissions .
The 2.5L SUBARU BOXER , exclusive to the Limited and new Outdoor trim levels , produces 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque , making this Crosstrek one of the most powerful subcompact crossovers on the market . Also utilized in the Forester and Outback , this direct-injection engine is designed to strike the optimum balance between powerful response and class-leading efficiency .
Although not as headline-worthy as the new SUBARU BOXER , the long-travel suspension system is worth highlighting . The front and rear suspension are expertly calibrated to balance comfort and handling precision . The result is superior ride quality , which works together with the sound insulation to give the Crosstrek a surprisingly refined feeling overall . This crossover now truly offers the best of all worlds : the nimble precision of a sporty hatchback , the comfort of a larger vehicle and the adventure-ready capability of an authentic off-roader .
In terms of capability , the new Crosstrek Outdoor sets new standards . While all versions feature X-MODE as standard equipment , the Outdoor trim level gains the dualfunction X-MODE system , also seen on the latest Outback . This system has two distinct settings for snow / dirt and deep snow / mud , so the simple push of a button gives the Crosstrek more capability than ever before — particularly when tackling steep inclines or descents .
Another feature exclusive to the Outdoor trim level , the new front-view camera , brings increased awareness to every driving scenario , whether it ’ s off-roading or navigating through a crowded city . This camera captures a near 180-degrees view around the front of the vehicle , with the image projected onto the centre console screen . This camera proves incredibly useful when entering an obstructed intersection or when attempting to avoid potentially damaging obstacles typically found along an off-road trail .
To advance the interests of safe driving even further , new Crosstrek models equipped with the Lineartronic CVT are also available with the latest version of Subaru EyeSight ® Driver-Assist Technology . This next-generation suite of active safety systems now includes the new Lane Centring Assist system . As before , the award-winning EyeSight system also includes pre-collision braking , pre-collision brake assist , pre-collision throttle management , adaptive cruise control , lead vehicle start alert , lane departure warning , lane sway warning and Lane Keep Assist .
All things considered , the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek represents a very calculated move , one designed to keep this subcompact crossover at the very head of its class . More aggressive design features . A more powerful engine option . More off-road capability . Increased safety and refinement . When you add it all up , the result is the most complete Crosstrek ever produced .
