WELCOME TO THE FALL/WINTER 2018 Issue of SIX STAR THE MAGAZINE FOR SUBARU OWNERS IN CANADA W ith this latest issue, we’re hitting the open road again in search of new and different experiences. We believe that the collection of stories we’ve gathered together reflects the spirit of adventure that’s infused in so many of our customers. The articles also reflect the unique characteristics of our vehicles: We focus on some off-the-beaten track destinations that are best accessed by a line-up of go-anywhere vehicles. Following along in the theme of outdoor adventure, we take a look at the burgeoning sport of multi-sport racing, also known as adventure racing. This past summer, the Ontario region was the proud sponsor of one of the premiere competitions in Canada, the Subaru Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race. Our writer captured the energy of the event by speaking with two of the top finishers in their respective categories. Our cover story takes place in one of the most beautiful areas of the country, the Gaspé Peninsula. As we learn, it’s not a simple thing to embark on a long driving vacation with a young family — but our writer manages to do just that and lives to tell the tale. As you’ll see in the article, the views along the Gaspésie are absolutely breathtaking and we trust that this alone will make you want to plan a visit for yourself. As the colder weather is on the horizon, we thought it appropriate to interview an athlete skilled in winter sports for this issue. We would’ve been hard pressed to find a more suitable candidate than Ted-Jan Bloemen, who won two medals, including gold, at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. Also, we may be biased, but we believe there’s no better way to see such majestic sights than from behind the wheel of an all-new 2019 Subaru Forester. In this issue, you have the opportunity to learn all about the fifth-generation Forester, which is more capable than ever before. Built on the new Subaru Global Platform, powered by an all-new SUBARU BOXER engine, completely redesigned inside and out, our popular compact SUV promises to become an even more popular choice with Canadians. Regardless of which Subaru model you happen to drive, we provide other great reasons to get out there and explore. Our article on cross-cultural comfort food helps celebrate the ethnic diversity that makes this country so admired around the world. Another adventure story, this one based in Grasslands National Park, shines a light on a Prairie province that doesn’t typically receive much attention. With this article, we believe that Saskatchewan makes a strong case for being a bucket-list destination. Of course, we also have many compelling stories from the world of Subaru, one of them focusing on the key differences between rallying and rallycross racing. Our writer gathered his information while watching the FIA World Rallycross Championship round held in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, this past summer. In conclusion, we hope that you will enjoy this issue of Six Star and find it to be a source of inspiration as you set about planning your own adventures. As always, we encourage your feedback as we work to bring you articles that reflect the Subaru lifestyle. Enjoy the read, enjoy the open road and live the adventure!
