WELCOME TO THE Fall/Winter 2017 Issue of SIX STAR THE MAGAZINE FOR SUBARU OWNERS IN CANADA This is a very special publication for yours truly—this is the first issue to be produced since I returned to Canada earlier this year, becoming the new President and CEO for Subaru Canada. Of course, I may be biased, but I’m extremely proud of the stories presented here; I hope they meet with your approval as well. Without question, the star of this new issue is the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. The cover image featuring our all-new compact crossover on Vancouver Island is the perfect representation of this popular model—it’s ideal for people who may live in the city, but who also crave outdoor adventure. There are few cities in Canada—or, indeed, the world—more suited to weekend getaways than Victoria. Our west coast writer revisited Victoria and ventured north from there all the way to Tofino, stopping off in some of the most beautiful spots this country has to offer. Of course, this issue features other fantastic articles, including a detailed technical piece describing all the ways in which the Subaru Crosstrek has changed for the new model year. We also have a story that covers three different modified versions of the Crosstrek, which are currently competing in China, in Mexico and here in Canada. To further emphasize that Subaru is a genuine enthusiast brand, we also have a feature interview with Molly Taylor, the first female to win the Australian Rally Championship. And speaking of enthusiasts, we have an article that describes five different fan experiences where people can learn to be a professional athlete— at least for a day or two. As always, the Subaru 360 section covers the latest news from the world of Subaru, including a stunning lap record for the Subaru WRX STI at the infamous Nürburgring Nordschleife. Our star customer section has actually expanded to include four different Subaru fans from across Canada, all of them winners in a recent photography contest honouring Canada’s 150th anniversary. Last but certainly not least, from the world of culture, we have a story on five Japanese-Canadian artists worth your attention, as selected by a leading figure from the world of art. As a Japanese person myself, I’m pleased that we’re turning our attention to this group of talented individuals, all of whom are helping to make Canada a more interesting, more diverse and more inclusive country. In closing, we hope that you will enjoy this issue of Six Star as much as our team enjoyed producing it. As ever, we encourage your feedback—this magazine is devoted to you, the Subaru customer, so it’s vitally important the articles reflect you and your interests.
