Welcome to the

Fall / Winter 2016 Issue of

SIX STAR

the magazine for Subaru owners in Canada

Welcome to the Fall / Winter 2016 issue of Six Star, the magazine for Canadian Subaru owners. We have called this the“ Discovery Issue” because it’ s filled with stories inviting you to explore this great country, in a variety of ways, from behind the wheel of a Subaru. Our cover shot of the 2017 Subaru Outback links to three different articles, all related to this inspirational theme.

The location for the shoot was Kejimkujik National Park in Nova Scotia, one of 17 official dark sky preserves in Canada, as designated by the Royal Astrological Society of Canada. This summer, Subaru Canada introduced the Dark Sky Project, which encourages people to get outside and visit a dark sky preserve to see the stars at their best and brightest. In this issue, we have a story documenting our writer’ s experience visiting a dark sky preserve in BC— and words from two of the gentlemen responsible for championing this initiative in Canada.
The Nova Scotia location also provides a springboard for our feature story on the undiscovered Maritimes by a writer with vast experience of this beautiful part of our country. If you visit Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or PEI, you could go to all the usual tourist destinations and come away charmed. But we believe this story offers even more great reasons to plan a road trip.
Last but not least, our other cover star for this issue, the Subaru Outback, is even more refined, capable and adventureready for the new model year. You can learn more by reading our technical brief on this dynamic SUV alternative.
But this is just the start. We also have a story on five winter adventures that are uniquely Canadian and four sports with Canadian roots that run deep. Speaking of sports, our athlete Q & A in this issue was one of the breakout stars of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Ashley Steacy. In our Subaru 360 news section, we have quick updates on how the previous athletes we profiled in Six Star, Khamica Bingham and Josée Bélanger, fared at this year’ s Games.
Of course, our news section also includes a wide range of updates in a vast array of areas, including reports from three Subaru enthusiast events in Toronto, Moncton and Vancouver. We also have news on the arrival of the exciting 2017 Subaru Impreza and an important occasion to celebrate, the 50th anniversary of the SUBARU BOXER engine!
We hope you enjoy this issue of Six Star as much as we enjoyed putting it together— and we hope that you continue to enjoy driving your Subaru!
