Q: What was going through your mind as you stood on the podium receiving your medal?
This was my moment. Before I stood up on the podium, I had the most intense feeling of satisfaction. It felt like all of our hard work and dedication to our dream had paid off. As the medal was being put around my neck, I felt so grateful to everyone who had been a part of my journey and helped me to be in that moment.
Q: How has your life changed after winning an Olympic bronze medal? Life itself hasn’ t changed too much, [ but ] I’ d say our voices hold more weight and we are inspiring a whole new generation of young athletes. [ This ] is probably one of the coolest parts of being home, hearing parents say how we inspired their young children. Q: What’ s next for you? I’ ve moved home and plan to continue playing with the national team.
