Short Story By Tron Tronsen
When we finally got there after about 2 hours drive, it turned out that we were babysitting a friend of my brothers daughter. And naturally she was a girl, with 2 boys, me and my mother for an entire day. Warning signs with huge lamps on them started going off in my head. I am semi good with kids, but I basically dont know how to put my foot down and be stern.
Challenge 1: "can we please please please go jump on the trampoline, otto ton? (my pet name for all my nieces and nephews)
sure just be careful, and off they went.
Challenge 2: not 3 minutes after they all come running inside going "we are cold! and wet!", how did that happen? "well the trampoline is full of water" *takes a moment*, "We really want to jump on it though". Fine come here, and I gathered the three of them up, grabbed some plastic bags and some duct tape and made them plastic shoes. I became gradually better at doing it as I went along, and somehow the girl ended up last and got the best pair.
Chalenge 3: the plastic bags worked! to some extent, right up til the point where they started jumping in puddles on the ground. *takes another moment* the girl came bursting in, "I am still cold!! can you fix?" So I made a pair ontop of the pair she had, and basically duct taped both her feet from top til bottom. And off they went again.
