Recommendation 3: Tamil events included as part of Community Involvement Programme
• Tamil activities could be tied together with Community Involvement Programmes (CIP) so
as to make it mandatory for students to participate in such events. Since CIP is
compulsory in primary and secondary school, by incorporating Tamil events in them, we
would be able to shape an individual’s interests from young.
• Moreover, such CIP events will allow youth to learn about the problems Singaporean
Tamil community face. Students often tend to become socially active when there is a
need. By exposing them to the problems Tamil communities face, we can encourage them
to be part of the community building.
