This iconic landmark used to be the house of Katong Bakery & Confectionery, which is also known as the first cake shop that introduced a three-layer western style wedding cake in the 1920s. After being temporarily closed, Red House has now reopened. This historic building is located on 63 East Coast Road. From Eunos MRT Station, take bus 966 at the opposite bus stop and get off at the Opposite Parkway Parade and then continue on a short walk to get to Red House. Located across from Tembeling Road, there are rows of porch houses with various ceramic motifs. This location used to be closer to the sea, making the houses construction here supported by a stage as their foundation. You can walk along the buildings of these houses. To reach this destination, you can take the MRT and get off at Eunos Station, then continue by taking bus 966 from the bus stop across the street. Get off at Opposite Block 72, and start walking around this picturesque spot. The Jousting Painters Located in between Joo Chiat Terrace and Everitt Road, you will discover murals on the street side. Painted by Ernest Zacharevic, this mural tells a story of two young boys on horses fighting in a pretend war. It is simple but you’ll find great joy in taking pictures here. From Eunos MRT Station, take your exit through Exit A and continue your journey until you reach the bus stop after GE Life Centre, Changi Road. Take one of these buses: 2, 7, 13, 21, 24, 26, 28, 30, 51, 67, and 155. Right on the next stop, you can get off and then take a short walk towards Joo Chiat Terrace. SINGAPORE GUIDEBOOK Pastel Shophouses on Koon Seng Road When you get here, you would recognize how often you’ve seen photos of this picturesque destination on social media. The shophouses lining up Koon Seng Road are indeed phenomenal. Standing tall and huddled to one another, these houses are decorated with Peranakan ceramics or patterned tiles and pastel-colored paints. While you’re here, try and find Chinese couplets under the window believed to bring good luck. From Dakota MRT Station, you can walk to the bus stop at Block 99, Old Airport Road. Take bus 33 and get off at Flora East, Joo Chiat Place. Then you can walk along the Koon Seng Road.
