Home Terraces on 150 East Coast Red House in Katong
Road This landmark has a bold exterior in its display
of bright red color. This iconic landmark used to
be the house of Katong Bakery & Confectionery,
which is also known as the first cake shop that
introduced a three-layer western style wedding
cake in the 1920s. After being temporarily
closed, Red House has now reopened. This
historic building is located on 63 East Coast
Road. From Eunos MRT Station, take bus
966 at the opposite bus stop and get off at the
Opposite Parkway Parade and then continue on
a short walk to get to Red House.
Located across from Tembeling Road, there
are rows of porch houses with various ceramic
motifs. This location used to be closer to the
sea, making the houses construction here
supported by a stage as their foundation. You
can walk along the buildings of these houses.
To reach this destination, you can take the MRT
and get off at Eunos Station, then continue by
taking bus 966 from the bus stop across the
street. Get off at Opposite Block 72, and start
walking around this picturesque spot.
The Jousting Painters
Located in between Joo Chiat Terrace and
Everitt Road, you will discover murals on the
street side. Painted by Ernest Zacharevic, this
mural tells a story of two young boys on horses
fighting in a pretend war. It is simple but you’ll
find great joy in taking pictures here. From
Eunos MRT Station, take your exit through Exit
A and continue your journey until you reach the
bus stop after GE Life Centre, Changi Road.
Take one of these buses: 2, 7, 13, 21, 24, 26,
28, 30, 51, 67, and 155. Right on the next stop,
you can get off and then take a short walk
towards Joo Chiat Terrace.

Pastel Shophouses on Koon Seng
Road
When you get here, you would recognize how
often you’ve seen photos of this picturesque
destination on social media. The shophouses
lining up Koon Seng Road are indeed
phenomenal. Standing tall and huddled to
one another, these houses are decorated with
Peranakan ceramics or patterned tiles and
pastel-colored paints. While you’re here, try
and find Chinese couplets under the window
believed to bring good luck. From Dakota MRT
Station, you can walk to the bus stop at Block
99, Old Airport Road. Take bus 33 and get off at
Flora East, Joo Chiat Place. Then you can walk
along the Koon Seng Road.
