I knew that you were going to disappear
Like the pretty words that I inhaled
From your mouth.
I’m usually not like this,
Reckless,
Brash,
Uncaring.
But nothing else mattered in that moment.
You made the world turn fuzzy around the edges,
And that sense of euphoria followed by
A calmness that washed over my mind so rapidly,
That it left me dizzy and feeling like a confused animal
Among the waves of tranquility that lapped at my brain.
It was something that I had never experienced before.
That mix of serenity
And utter bewilderment
That made me rack my brain for a logical answer,
A solution.
Yet, I couldn’t find one.
I couldn’t scramble out of the grey waves
In my jumbled mind.
What I could make out was
The sense of utter fascination
And slight repulsion
That I got as you smiled.
It was sincere,
Warm,
It had the glint of a sharp knife
That would shred anyone to pieces.
That is when I realized
That you were the king in this twisted game,
And I didn’t care.
