Style: Keepin' it o'natural

Allowing my hair to not be processed with any straightening chemicals has been both a challenging and rewarding experience. I’d worn my hair cut off in a cute short pixie hairstyle for a while, and loved it. However, I was constantly going to the beautician for a relaxer, haircut, and style; and it was really expensive. I always had an irritated, dry and flaky scalp; and thinking back I don’t know why I allowed my hair to be so damaged.

I made the tough decision to do the “big chop,” or the “little chop” in my case, in June of last year. At first I felt awkward, because I didn’t know what everybody’s reaction would be, and a lot of people did have mixed reactions. However, it’s been nine months now, and I cannot imagine going back to wearing a relaxer, my hair is so healthy! I love to wear protective hair styles, and during the summer I just do a wash-and-go and really embrace my curls!
