DivanTheSimmer
My name is Divan, you may know me online as
DivanTheSimmer, and I'm a 22-year-old Simmer
from South Africa! I just started my first job as
an intern at a steel company, after studying
Computer Aided Draughting for two years. In
my free time, I play video games, write SimLit,
listen to music and all sorts of other things.
I've been a Simmer for almost 11 years now. My
uncle's girlfriend, now his fiancée, played The
Sims 1 on her laptop at my grandmother's
home, where she and my uncle lived back then.
11-year-old me was in complete awe of this
game and couldn't wait to get started! My
parents couldn't get me a computer at the time,
so I started playing The Sims 2 Castaway on
PlayStation 2, which I received for my twelfth
birthday. Then, I got The Sims 2 Pets and The
Sims 2. The following year, I received The Sims 3
and my first laptop for my thirteenth birthday
and the rest was history! What keeps me
playing is the ability to tell my stories through
the Sims I create and the ability to express
myself creatively.
So far, my favourite Sims game is probably The
Sims 3, mostly because that was my first full-on
experience playing The Sims - you could do so
much more on the PC versions of the game
back then than you could on the console
versions and I bought every expansion pack
released. That eventually caused a lot of lag, to
the point where I couldn't play the game
anymore, I didn't have a lot of knowledge about
computers back then and had a notebook that
couldn't actually handle games, which is the
downside to it. The Sims 2 games on console
will always hold a special place in my heart,
because of pure nostalgia and I had countless
hours of fun playing them.
I tend to play story-based gameplay. Meaning I
will get an idea for the characters I want in my
