run ’ Silver Creek enters Hoosier lore with rare repeat
Silver Creek ’ s 50-49 win over Leo in the Class 3A state championship game April 3 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse was equal parts celebration , coronation and culmination for the Dragons .
The victory gave them their second consecutive state title , making them one of less than 20 programs to achieve that feat in more than 100 years of high school hoops in the Hoosier state .
Additionally , Creek became just the third school to ever achieve the girls-boys state title sweep in the same season after the SCHS girls ’ team cut down the nets five weeks earlier in the same building .
Finally the win capped off an unprecedented run by the Dragons , as well as the careers of their five seniors , including program-changing players Trey Kaufman-Renn
