The BurlingtonGreen organization put on a memorable event in November. Dr. Suzuki walked around the Burlington Performing Arts Centre with such calm energy, such focus, and a gentle aura that followed him. Naturally everyone wanted to meet him, greet him, help him, it was a wonderful atmosphere. Through my Raising Kids Naturally magazine, I was able to meet him in person, and had an opportunity to interview him. Only for ten minutes, as it was a busy day for him, with many tasks and meetings to attend. “The key is to simplify your life,” he said, “to be considerate of our earth, mind nature in everything you do, and focus on family values. Get involved with our politicians and make your voice heard, since your voice is key to making things happen.” Sounds simple? It is, really, but we humans are so destructive – even to ourselves – that we make everything complicated. “Pick your battles” Suzuki said. My battles have to do with clean water, less plastic, better food, more family time – reflected in each issue I publish. What are your battles? Are you doing anything about them? The interview with Dr. Suzuki will be in the next issue of Raising Kids, and excerpts published online. I hope you will not miss such an opportunity to help make a difference. We’re all grains of sand after all, and this really matters. www.ipao.ca Suzanne Soto-Davies Founder & Publisher, Silver and Gold Magazine [email protected] Silver & Gold Magazine ~ Winter 2017/18 5
