HOUSEHOLD TIPS + TRICKS
Make any soup creamier
without using dairy: Just
grind up some cashews or
walnuts until they become
pasty, then add to soup
base – makes it healthier
too! Alternatively, you can
also use slices of bread or
boxed mashed potatoes for a
creamier soup.
Use old
kitchen mitts
to wash your car
Fertilize your potted plants
naturally by giving them your
old tea bags. Simply crack
open the used tea and
work into the soil.
Alternatively,
allow to cool
slightly and
place on eyes to
eliminate redness,
dark circles and puffy
eyes (green tea works best).
Chop fresh herbs, place in an ice
cube tray and cover with olive oil.
Freeze and throw in your recipe as
needed for added flavour.
Cloudy headlights?
Just use a soft cloth
to scrub them with
a dab of baking soda
toothpaste (any kind)
and then rinse.
Put 10 drops of an essential
oil on a cloth napkin or small
face cloth, roll up loosely,
and place in linen closet or
sock/underwear drawer, for
a beautifully natural, clean
scent. (Lavender, bergamot
or lemongrass are commonly
preferred oils.)
Freeze berries
in your ice cube
tray, or freeze
whole grapes
to use instead
of ice cubes
(delicious with
white wine!)
After a walk outside, gently rub the bottom of your dog’s
paws with coconut oil (especially in between each pad).
Coconut oil promotes wound healing, improves their
digestion and nutrient absorption, reduces bad breath,
helps with hot spots and dry skin, creates sleek & glossy
coat, and helps against dry & itchy skin – safe for cats too!
Dosage: Start with no more than 1 tsp. per day for large
dogs, or 1/4 tsp. per day for small dogs or cats. Later, most
dogs can handle up to 1 tsp. per day, per 10 lbs. of weight.
