Your community needs you... Can you help? Hundreds of CLD sufferers in Ontario have flooded to the closest Lyme specialist in New York State, spending tens of thousands of dollars, and remain struggling with the disease unable to return to full-time school or work. Unfortunately, my Tiessen kids could not afford even these treatments, and along with antoher grandparent, my husband and I could only help so much through our limited finances. How do you leave your kids to suffer on their own? What else could we possibly do to help them? A glimmer of hope After much prayer, and great convincing on our part, together we decided to go public with their story [see Hamilton Spectator article of August 29th, 2014], and we reached out to our community for help. The Sponaugle Wellness Institute in Florida is has a 90% success rate for treating CLD. Headed by Dr. Rick Sponaugle,whose daughter contracted Lyme Disease, the treatment uses a combination of antibiotics, powerful naturopathic medicines and alternative treatments. Bloodwork is analyzed regularly and treatment is customized to each patient. With a price tag of $80,000 per person for this promising treatment, my husband and I formed the fundraising campaign (below), and are supported by Bethany Community Church in St. Catharines to raise these funds for our Tiessen family. With a committee of 20 volunteers, our September fundraiser hellped raise over $100,000 dollars. Everyone continues to work diligently to save each member of our family, but we cannot do it alone. “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – t
