‘THIS TOO SHALL PASS’

I visited my mother at the seniors’ home today
I practiced social distancing and stayed six feet away
She doesn’t quite remember why I can’t give her a hug
That the world has been upended by this new corona bug.
We send our heartfelt gratitude to those who risk their lives
In caring for our loved ones till a remedy arrives
The heroes and the heroines whose days are long and tough
Who do their jobs with grit and grace – we can’t thank them enough.
And though these days we often feel our lives are made of glass
I recall the way my mother smiled and said, ‘this too shall pass.’
