I love reading the billboard signs on some of the
churches in our neighbourhood, as they can be quite
comical, or sometimes they play on words like, “A day
without God makes one weak.”
A couple of days ago I saw one that said, “Press the reset
button,” and it rang so true for me that I almost cried
when I saw it (if you read my article on page 30, you’ll
understand why I’m such a cry baby right now).
Later that day, a young man passed me by and gave me
the finger while honking at me. I guess the fact I was
going 40 on a 40 wasn’t good enough for him. But on
this day, I remembered that sign and decided to press
that reset button... Instead, I chose not to get upset at
him, not to judge him, because you just never know
what he was going through. I like to believe he was
rushing to the hospital to have a baby. It’s comforting.
Life is complicated, and with this issue I wanted to
offer some simplicity; in some way, give our readers a
pat on the back that “it’s okay” to give yourself a break
sometimes. Make an easy meal, allow yourself a gift,
reinvent your retirement, ease the stress. We all need to
give ourselves a hug sometimes, without expectations
that others will do that.
I hope this issue is one that makes you feel good. We
deserve a nice summer, especially after such a ‘blah’
spring – dont’ we? Go ahead, press the reset button.
