This is a long term “vision” that will guide local government
planning and spending in the beach area. It is therefore subject
to a variety of variables and adjustments, over time, as it is
slowly implemented.
The attempt to update the old park plan began in 2006
but was delayed repeatedly for a variety of reasons. Residents
on the beach, quite understandably, requested that Council
review its desire to purchase their private property. This was
done in 2013. Council decided to stick to its goal to convert
the entire area into a park. The purchase of private property
will however continue to be on a willing seller and willing
buyer basis, so it could take many more years.•
