items at the warehouse, Food for Life delivers these items to the agencies in one of three ways: 1. self serve: where agencies come in and make their selection from tables, where the food is displayed 2. bagged; where the volunteers divide the food into containers, and the clients then come and collect their container 3. bagged and delivered; where the volunteers divide the food into containers, and then deliver the containers to the agencies. Food safety is a priority, and Food for Life adheres to the Halton Public Health “Food Safety Guidelines for Food Banks” which provides a comprehensive standard guideline for food quality and safety standards, to ensure they are safe for all consumers. The Hamilton Good Food Box program Created by Hamilton Eat Local, a project of Environment Hamilton, the Good Food Box project was created in cooperation with a wide range of community partners and with funding from the Healthy Communities Fund, the Hamilton Community Foundation and numerous donors, supporters and volunteers. The Good Food Box is a non-profit fresh fruit and vegetable distribution program. It makes healthy fresh food affordable and accessible to everyone. For only $15 our program participants receive a box of fresh quality produce worth $25 or more. The program delivers directly to various locations all over Hamilton, and hubs are set up across the city, with pick-ups taking place the third and fourth Wednesdays of every month.
