Two things need to happen for change to occur: 1. You must want it, and realize you need it. cross them off as you complete them – this can be a very rewarding experience! 2. View it as a non-negotiable part of your day: A little time for YOU. Get packing. Find a backpack and pack yourself a healthy snack and a water bottle with ice; wear sunscreen, bring some money and a change of shirt and socks. Don’t forget the bike lock! Allow yourself some time. Don’t use excuses as crutches to prevent you from spending time with yourself and your loved ones. Start small. One little change in your daily routine will get you going. Get out there – Where to start Choose your wheels. How long has it been since you rode a bicycle? Do you even own one? They can be rented in most towns and cities, and they are comfortable, sturdy and strong, simple to handle, inexpensive. If you haven’t ridden a bike for a long time but are curious to try it out again, take it to a local church parking lot for a test ride. If you’re unsure about your physical ability to ride one and would prefer a large trike or mobility scooter, they too can be rented inexpensively. Don’t forget your helmet for safety! Make a date with yourself. Choose a realistic date with yourself. Or if you prefer to have company, make a date with your loved one, a friend, a neighbour. Make it a short date to start, and choose a quiet area where not too many skateboarders or young ones will be around. Remember, you want this to be as easy as possible; give yourself a chance. Choose your path. Where haven’t you been yet? How much time would you like to be out? Is there a place you’ve always wanted to see but never got around to visiting? When’s the last time you rode to the grocery store, drug store, or to your kids’ school? It may interest you to follow some of the conservation area paths, or some of the city park paths. Make a check list and what are you doing this summer? Choose the path less travelled. Bikes • Clothing • Accessories • Service Best selection of lifestyle bikes.
