From the

So with this issue I’m connecting the younger and the older.
Our “Life on Wheels” article is for everyone, regardless of age
or physical ability. As it says, it’s for those who are on bikes,
trikes, scooters, wheelchairs, walkers, you name it. It’s for
those who want to experience summer at its best: outdoors.
How do you like the new
insert in your Silver & Gold
issue?
And what better than include a huge contest! The prizes
are amazing (see pg. 17) and there is something for everyone
to win, but you must first enter! The article, although it may
seem written toward bike users, is really for anyone using any
form of rolling transportation – no reason to feel excluded!
My three girls know me as a
“health nut” and I have to say
it’s something I’m proud of;
after all, there are worst things
to be known for, right?
As I mention in my
introduction of Kids, Naturally! Magazine, I’ve always been a
believer that “it takes a village” to raise a child. And since we’re
all so busy, it was timely to start a magazine that would help
guide parents in huge task of raising their kids a more natural
way – less electronics, more home-cooking, more family
time... Back to the basics, and lots of supportive parenting.
We all need it, not just our kids! So after having a peek
through it, please pass it on to whomever you feel may benefit
from this gentle guidance – whether family, neighbours or
friends. Let’s make raising healthy kids contagious!
With this issue Silver & Gold starts its eighth year! Quite an
accomplishment for an independent publisher, and especially
as it’s been over that length of time since I first heard the
phrase: “print is dead”. Our young ones may not be too keen
on visiting libraries or buying books to read (it’s a shame,
really) and instead they may choose online reading... but I
for one really love publishing S&G and am thankful that
you love reading it!
In addition, and since I am this proud “health nut”
mentioned earlier, I visited my local grocery store one day
only to find out from staff that at this particular store, all of
their fresh-baked muffins, breads, pies, roasts and chickens
are thrown out when the store closes each night. Thrown out!
Nothing is donated, nothing is given to neither staff nor food
banks. Needless to say, I was shocked...
The Food for Life article (page 25) was born from research
which resulted after finding this shocking information out,
and I’m very proud to have included this amazing local
organization in this issue. What do you think?
This issue is all about getting involved, and with the warmer
weather there really are no more excuses! Will you participate?
