items at the warehouse, Food for Life delivers these items to
the agencies in one of three ways:
1. self serve: where agencies come in and make their selection
from tables, where the food is displayed
2. bagged; where the volunteers divide the food into containers,
and the clients then come and collect their container
3. bagged and delivered; where the volunteers divide the
food into containers, and then deliver the containers to
the agencies.
Food safety is a priority, and Food for Life adheres to the
Halton Public Health “Food Safety Guidelines for Food
Banks” which provides a comprehensive standard guideline
for food quality and safety standards, to ensure they are safe
for all consumers. Details of policies are also available online.
How to get involved
At Food for Life, every little bit of help goes a long way
to provide food for families in need. If you’re interested
in donating – either by ways of financial assistance, or
volunteering your time, or whether your organization or
company can donate food, please contact Food for Life online

The Hamilton Good Food Box program
Created by Hamilton Eat Local, a
project of Environment Hamilton, the
Good Food Box project was created
in cooperation with a wide range of
community partners and with funding
from the Healthy Communities Fund, the
Hamilton Community Foundation and numerous donors,
supporters and volunteers.
The Good Food Box is a non-profit fresh fruit and
vegetable distribution program. It makes healthy fresh
food affordable and accessible to everyone. For only $15
our program participants receive a box of fresh quality
produce worth $25 or more.
The program delivers directly to various locations all
over Hamilton, and hubs are set up across the city, with
pick-ups taking place the third and fourth Wednesdays
of every month.
Every month the project now serves over 500 individuals
and families!
