I have been working with seniors for a large portion of
my life, in one way or another.
As young girls, my sisters and I used to sing in harmony
at seniors’ nursing homes (and loved it). I volunteered at
a nearby hospital, specifically in the geriatrics wing, where
I was unfortunately ‘let go’ because I talked too much to
the patients (apparently this was a bad thing).
Of course now, I publish S&G, and part of my work
consists of listening to seniors, and doing a lot of
research on what their needs and interests are. One of
the major issues in their lives, they say, is the lack of
resources available: Whether they need to find help
within their home, or help with care of a loved one.
This is a large portion of why S&G was created, and
why it’s always been available for free.
As our readers age, and as we bring in new readers, they
have more and more access to the internet. This is why
we are revamping our website and adding a new
“Seniors Helpers” section: To grow access to these
needed resources in one complete area.
My request is, that if you offer assistance to seniors living
in their homes, or you know of someone who does, take
a look at page 26 and please pass it on... Collaboration
will make this resource much more accessible to
everyone! I hope you enjoy this spring issue as much as
we’ve enjoyed putting it together for you.
PS: Please #SkipThePlasticStraw. You don’t need it.
