“If we were meant to stay in one place we’d have roots instead of feet.” – Rachel Wolchin When it comes to flights, don’t wait for that last-minute sale – those have gone the way of the dinosaur. Booking less than 7 days in advance will cause you to pay a premium; instead, buy well in advance and get cancellation and interruption insurance, and do not forget the medical insurance – it is a must unless you are independently wealthy and don’t care if you lose your house or savings to a medical emergency! If you have your heart set on a spring break or Christmas holiday, DO NOT WAIT as space is limited. If you wait, it is usually not going to be what you ultimately want, or could be so overpriced that you shudder when you give out your credit card. An experienced, good travel agent that cares about their clients, can really be of assistance in these cases. Always remember that you only get what you pay for – life is not a dress rehearsal, and your life’s passport does not necessarily have an expiry date! • Summer living is easy. Choosing just one art course is hard. This year’s summer program features over 300 courses for beginners to experts, including more than 70 new classes. O berammergau is a municipality in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in Bavaria, Germany. It’s known for its woodcarvers and their talented craftsmanship, for its NATO School, and across the world for its “Oberammergau Passion Play”. If you’re visiting Oberammergau in a year ending with zero – such as in upcoming 2020 – you’re in for a treat. The play was first performed in 1634 and is the result of a vow made by residents of the area, that if “God spared them from the effects of the bubonic plague, then they’d perform a passion play every ten years.” The play is seven hours long (yes, with intermissions), and about half the townspeople (2,000+ villagers) participate in over 100 performances between May and October. Hundreds of thousands are expected to attend o ver the course of those performances. For more about Oberammergau consult with your preferred travel agent, who can provide you with literature and more information.• You think you know someone well until you need to plan their funeral.
